Key Bible Passage(s):
Tier 1:
Engaging with the Bible is a battle! It makes sense once you recognise how central the Scriptures are in the life of the Church and the ministry of the Spirit… and to the process of our becoming more like Jesus. Of course Satan will bring his opposition to bear on our relationship with and engagement with this book. We know that we are losing ground in this battle once the Bible starts to get marginalised in our - or our Church’s - life.
Tier 2:
Throughout the Scriptures there are warnings about giving our attention to false teachers who distort and confuse. We may think people are sincerely mistaken. The Bible has a more severe diagnosis….
The church is always to be under the Word; she must be; we must keep her there. You must not assume that because the church started correctly, she will continue so. She did not do so in the New Testament times; she has not done so since. Without being constantly reformed by the Word the church becomes something very different.
